Recharge
25th Release
Simon
Eve's own Recharge label is due to celebrate a silver anniversary - the
landmark 25th release! An extra special track was required for such an
occasion, and after lengthy negotiations we're delighted to announce that
Recharge has secured a true hard dance classic. Antic 'The Ultimate' was
originally released back on the legendary Jinx label back in 1994 and
was a huge favourite of scene leaders Tony De Vit, Pete Wardman and Ian
M at the time. For the 2004 update and 25th release on Recharge, Scott
Mac makes his debut on the label with a tough tech-trance rework, while
Simon Eve bangs out an unstoppable hard house remix. Not released until
September 2004, but you can check out an EXCLUSIVE sneak preview of the
new Simon Eve remix on the Music page now.
June
Dates
Simon
Eve's June DJ dates are now online, and amongst the highlights are a welcome

fan in the UK. Live acts on the night are K90, Nuw Idol and the Nu Energy
Collective, and heading the list of DJs in the four rooms will be Rob
Tissera, Tara Reynolds, Amber D, Paul Glazby, Ian M, Karim, with Simon

Hard
Dance Down Under
Simon
has just returned from a whirlwind tour of Australia and New Zealand.
A big thank you and 'big up' to Odyssey, Mr S, Chad and all at System
6 in Adelaide, Scott and the Hard Kandy Collective in Melbourne, and Jason
and Shiney from Cube in Auckland. The tour kicked off at System 6 / Freeformation
in Adelaide, and was held at what must surely be one of the best dance
music venues in the world - a church! Yes, 2,000 ravers in a church, some
even dressed as Priests and Nuns. Check out the live mix online in the
Mixes section of the site, and the music just
got harder and faster as the night went on, with Kevin Energy, Sharkey
and Mark Ashley taking things into Freeform and beyond. Next up was the
legendary Hard Kandy in Melbourne, complete with some of the craziest
dancing seen in a night club, affectionately known as the 'Melbourne shuffle'.
Finally it was over to Auckland New Zealand and the Cube club where, despite
a monsoon hitting town, the party went on long and hard... so hard that
Simon missed his flight home the following morning! So many thanks to
those kind people at Qantas for getting Simon back to the UK again so
soon!

Results
from 1st Hard Dance Awards
For
those braving the icy winds in the queue outside London's AKA bar on the
last Sunday night before Christmas, the glitz and the glamour of the Oscars
couldn't have been further from reality. Yet hard dance fans were here
in their hundreds to witness what had already been nicknamed 'The Hoovers',
the first annual Hard Dance Awards.
Japan's Yoji Biomehanika claimed the coveted Best DJ award, helped in
no small part by his freaky stage appearance and uncompromising hard trance
sounds that have set him apart from the competition and captured the imagination
of the public, while Sundissential beat off fierce competition to win
Best Club, a fine comeback in a year when they've had to endure at least
three venue changes and a well publicised split with co-founder Madders.
Paul Glazby's 'Hostile' won Best Track, BK picked up the Best Producer
award, although it was Tidy Trax that came out on top in the heavyweight
label head to head, winning Best Label, Special Event Of 2003 for the
Tidy Weekender, Best Website and Best Resident DJ going to Lee Haslam.
There were also opportunities for some of the scene's lesser-known stars
to shine, with staff at Banging Tunes getting the vote for Best Independent
Retailer, and the mysterious Jack Black deemed to be the Message Board
Hero for his posts and random ramblings on the Harder Faster web forum.
Special mention should also go to Lisa Lashes who was officially voted
the Biggest Industry Party Animal, and in true form was unable to collect
her award in person, having gone missing in action the previous night
at her own event, the appropriately named Lashed. Go on girl!
